    2004-04-29: DRUPA 2004: Product information
Product Update / Advancement / First Launch

beta.line, a new generation of dampening solution circulators and ink roller temperature control units for sheet-fed offset printing

technotrans will present the prototype version of a new beta.c combination unit at the Drupa 2004 to demonstrate the technical advancement of the beta.line series which has been a market-leading product throughout the world for the last few years. The beta.c unit is equipped with special features which are specifically adapted to the requirements of IPA-free printing, such as the new and highly precise digidos dampening solution dosing system, a maintenance-free conductivity sensor and a new beta.f fine filter module which drastically reduces operating costs and the time required for cleaning. The warm water rinsing system ensures optimum cleaning results and eliminates biological contamination.

The refrigeration technology has been revised, too. The refrigeration unit of the beta.c combination unit, for example, can be combined with a special energy-saving outside air free cooling system and can be set up separately from the printing press if this is desired. The new multicom control system with its optional colour display or touch-screen panel, its process data visualisation system and a remote maintenance feature via the internet, sets new standards and perfectly meets the ever increasing requirements concerning process control and user friendliness of this type of technological equipment.

    spinclean - filter-free cleaning systems

Process fluids such as CtP developers or dampening solution used for web offset printing are massively contaminated with foreign matter after a short time of use. Frequent fluid changes and intensive cleaning efforts have a strong impact on the operating costs. The innovative spinclean.ctp and spinclean.d units made by technotrans offer an enormous cost-cutting potential as they do not use consumables but the centrifugal force of a separator.

spinclean.ctp, the cleaning system for the CtP process, works in bypass to the developing bath and ensures a permanently clean basin and a constant printing plate quality without affecting the plate production process. Operational, purchasing and disposal costs can be reduced drastically as less fresh developer has to be added (savings of 70 per cent have been realised) and less cleaning effort is necessary.

spinclean.d makes use of the difference in density of water on the one hand and oil and solid matter on the other hand. Contaminants are eliminated efficiently without filters in the bypass leading to the dampening unit. The semiautomatic spinclean.d version allows periodic manual removal of the compact solid matter while the oil phase is continuously discharged. The automatic version is cyclically discharged in an automatic process. A subsequent sedimentation system reduces the contaminant load even further.

Automatic ink supply for sheet-fed offset printing: A new generation of ink.line units

The ink.line ink supply system has supplied sheet-fed offset presses fully automatically with ink from standardised 2kg cartridges and has been successfully installed more than 6,000 times all over the world since 1999. technotrans, a trendsetter in automation, now proudly presents the next ink.line generation: As the cartridge container opens automatically, all the printer has to do is to remove the old cartridge and to insert a new one. With the new generation, technotrans also presents a fully automatic cartridge exchanger. The ink.line can now be equipped with six instead of only one ink cartridge. As due to this fact the ink quantity has been increased from 2kg to 12kg, the ink.line has to be equipped with cartridges only once per shift. If higher quantities of ink are required, the new ink.line can be equipped with a patented valve set and used as a central direct ink.line ink supply system.

Even UV-inks are not a problem for the new ink.line. Handling is further simplified by the new fastening of the ink agitator.

Ink consumption measurement systems which were desired by many customers have already been integrated into the presses by major printing press manufacturers. technotrans now offers the tecon ink.line control system, an adequate retrofitting system.

These press releases contain forward-looking statements which are based on assumptions and estimations by the management board of technotrans AG. Even though the management board is of the opinion, that those assumptions and estimations are realistic the future development and the projected results may deviate substantially from the forward-looking statements. Those deviations can be due to several factors including but not limited to changes in the macro-economic situation, in the exchange rates, in the interest rates and in the graphic arts industry. technotrans AG gives no warranty and does not assume the liability for any damages in case the future development and the projected results do not correspond with the forward looking statements.
